Extract from an email I received from Brian Bell, a great sailing buddy and fellow RNLI fundraiser with Ant: Your Dad was a great Mr Fixit and if anything could be fixed with string, he would do it. However, a non-string incident - he once told me he came across a car broken down and he discovered the fault was a broken contact-breaker spring (in those days cars were simple!). He took a rubber eraser from his pencil case and put a piece of the rubber behind the contact-breaker arm in place of the spring, and it worked! Regards, Brian.
